“My brother, Ian, and I used the new Outback® eDriveX™ with an S3 monitor on a John Deere® 8310 to plant nearly 1,300 acres of edible beans, corn and sunflowers this spring, and I can honestly say I’m pretty happy with it. We have another S3 in the tractor that pulls our air drill and an S2 in our tillage tractor, and this new one is definitely the most accurate.”
“The biggest benefit of the new eDriveX, though, is the accuracy, which is really important in our situation. We do a band application on our row crops, so we need accurate guess rows between our planter widths. We plant 12 rows and spray 24, so it’s got to be right on. In that regard, the eDrive was good, but the eDriveX is even better.”

“It’s hard to believe how precise the new Outback eDriveX is in the field. We used it for putting on anhydrous and for strip tilling ahead of the planter this spring, and it worked great. The knife lines between passes with the anhydrous bar were virtually parallel, even on the corners. However, the eDriveX was even more amazing when drilling beans on 7 1/2-inch rows. Anybody’s unit can do an A/B line, but I’ve never seen anything do what this could do on contours. The difference between the eDriveX and the eDrive®, or any other guidance unit, for that matter, is just unbelievable. This one responds a lot faster, the lines are straighter and it holds the line better, even after a hard turn."

“This new eDriveX really works nice and I can really tell the difference between it and the old one. Right now, I’ve got it on a John Deere 8300 and it’s doing really well. In fact the guy who put on my fertilizer was using a John Deere guidance system and I didn’t have any problem getting this set up to follow on the same strips. Another thing worth noting is that I’ve always just used the WAAS signal in the past but my Outback salesman set me up with a two-month trial on an RTK subscription when he installed the eDriveX. Now I think I’m spoiled; so I’ll probably end up keeping it.”

“The new Outback eDriveX with the S3™ monitor was a lot more accurate than our old eDrive and S2™, which I still have. With the old system, we would always get a bobble or two down some of the rows, but this was almost always within zero to an inch of being right on. Most of our row crops are under center pivot irrigation units so I operated most of the time on pivot mode, except for the 48 rows I planted on the end rows where the pivot is generally parked; and both places, the rows were virtually parallel.”
“I have friends that have Trimble® and John Deere systems and any issues I’ve had, they seem to have also. Yet, you’ll pay a lot more to get either one of those systems than I have invested in my Outback systems. Price-wise, you can’t beat it.”

“I already have Outback systems on two planter tractors, a four-wheel drive tractor and two fertilizer spreaders. Unfortunately, this is the only eDriveX system that I have, since it just came out. Right now, I’ve got it on a CaseIH® MX200, which we used to plant all our edible beans and soybeans.”
“I’m very satisfied with it. I even put my hired hand on the tractor to help plant beans even though he had limited experience with the tractor. I never heard from him the whole time so it was obviously easy to use. The consistency was also impressive but as we get more experience with it, I think the accuracy will improve even more.”

“Right now, I’ve got three Outback S3 GPS systems, three S2 systems, five eDriveTC™ units and the one new eDriveX. At the time I went from the original eDrive to the eDriveTC that was a good deal; but the jump from the eDriveTC to the eDriveX has been amazing.”
“I used the eDriveX this spring on a CaseIH MX240 to plant nearly 1,600 acres of sugar beets, edible beans and sunflowers and the performance was perfect. In fact, I used it to replant some sunflowers that failed to come up by putting the new rows right over the old ones. I don’t think the replanted rows were more than a half-inch off anywhere in the field.”
“For the amount of money that you’re talking about with the Outback BaselineX™, the S3 system and the eDriveX, you can’t begin to find another system that is as accurate or simple to use.”
